Ok, I'm officially run off my feat now. I would like to add testimony to the theory that cory's spawn during low fronts (rain storms). It rained here the past day or two and HOLY GOD, they ran me off my feet. The Panda's spawned for the first time to my knowledge, the long fin bronzes spawned for like the 100 time and the high fin peppers spawned for like the 50th time. That's it, the nursery has no vacancies. The inn is closed!!! Now can someone please tell them that...

I've said this once and I'll say it again. You need to bottle and sell that water woman! :rofl:Apparently you are doing a great job with your cories and they just want to make sure you know. Or they want to torture you and eat you out of house and home. :Applaud: Congrats on the eggs! Since they were laid at your house each and every one will be fertile. I love panda's you'll have to take pictures of them as babies, I bet they are the cutest little things!

They're not shy about it either. I had the privelage of learning the exact spawning routine and all three types were the same. I was told that the male fertilizes the glass first and then the females lays her eggs over that spot... that is sooooooo not it.. I also got to photo graph the peppers from start to finish. It was very educational.

The male chases the female until he can get her in the "T" position. The male lays in front of her and she takes his "stuff" with her in her mouth. While she's putting "stuff" in her mouth she cups her anal fins into a basket and lays her eggs in them at the same time. This same thing was repeated every time and it's the only time she produced eggs. She then carries the eggs around in her fins while she searches for the perfect spot. The longest she carried them with her was about 8 mins. She then sticks them to the glass or plant and then spits out the "stuff" on them to fertilize them. It looked for a min like she was going to eat them until I figured out what she was doing. The male that didn't get to fert the eggs will go behind and eat the other males fert eggs and then try and get his chance with the female.

I didn't know I would learn so much in one day. So anyway.. here are a few photos. If you look really close at her anal fins, you will see them cupped like a basket and holding eggs.

Inspired by Kristy even though I did a large water change yesterday...A storm seems to be brewing or at least I hope so anyways. We need rain desperately. So I just did another large water change, dropped the temp 4 degree's and they are zinging all over the tank. Which could be them Saying OMG lady its freezing! What the heck??? Or they are already feeling amorous. :twitcy:

This is the beginning of the whole process when he chases her and tries to get her to do the "T" thing.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t174/jordonsmum/100_6853.jpg

Then they do the "T" position and she gets the "fertilizer" she needs from him. While she's doing this it triggers her to cup her anal fins and lay the eggs in them like a basket. I could actually see her laying the eggs.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t174/jordonsmum/100_6852.jpg

Then she scurry's around looking for a place to stick them while the males chase her hoping to get the next turn.

Here she's sticking them on the glass....
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t174/jordonsmum/100_6875.jpg

Then all the males inspect to see who dad is as she swims away.....
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t174/jordonsmum/100_6876.jpg

Aaaaaaand then the sore loser eats the eggs and races after her to try and get the next turn. The whole process starts over again and continues for HOURS. In the meantime, i'm running my fool head off collecting eggs between tanks.

Having said all of this.. can we say, "Kristy has no life...." ROFL"

Yay, my ONE little panda cory egg is turning brown. Oh I'm SOOOO excited!!! Hubby keeps teasing me calling it the "golden" egg because i've given it , it's own private nursery in a gold fish bowl to make sure nothing happens to it. The way it's getting royal treatment you'd think it was made of gold!!!

It got really cold in here for the first time last night. I hadn't put a heater in the water yet because it's been sooooo hot in this house. I found all of the little long fin cory's that had already hatched dead on the bottom. I doubt the little guy will make it:no: :( . I'm such a dummy sometimes.

Night temps shouldn't be hitting that low yet, so I coubt it was that, could have been anything. At least they're all spawning and a cold dip will always inspire Cory's so you should be overrun soon.

None of mine were viable after the fuzz was there. They'll spawn again and you'll get more than 1 egg next time.
