Special Requirements:Sandy or bare bottom substrate to protect their barbels from breaking/wearing down. Tall Plants, rocks, driftwood and slate to hide under, caves or pots should be added to provide cover. Suitable Tankmates: Small tetras, Discus, Livebearers, Gouramis, Danios, Killifish, P. Bridgesii, Asolene Spixi, Bee Shrimp, Amano Shrimp, Red Cherry Shrimp, Bristle Nose Pleco's, other Cory species.
Minimum Group Size: 6+
Diet: Omnivorous bottom feeder, will accept flakes, sinking pellets, bloodworms, krill, tubifex, shrimp pellets, algae wafers, tropical tablets, frozen/freeze dried foods, brine shrimp, cooked zucchini and cucumber.
Sexing: Females are slightly larger then males and have a more rounded appearance.
Breeding and Reproduction: Heavy rainfall/drops in barometric trigger spawning. Frequent water changes and a slight drop in temperature (5 degrees) can induce spawning. Schwartzi will deposit eggs on glass, java moss, leaves of large plants and spawning mops.
