Here is an interesting site: http://canadianbiodiversity.mcgill.ca/english/index.htm about Canadian species and ecosystems. The species section includes fish, sponges, molluscs, sponges, crustaceans and other species, including those at risk.

It's amazing to think that although there are nearly 20,000 species of fish, Canada has less than 200 freshwater species. When I read that I thought of how fragile our ecosystems are and how important it is for us to educate other hobbyists about the dangers of releasing non-native species of fish, other aquatic creatures and plants into our waters.
