Gasteropelecus sternicla *Hatchet fish*

Common name: Hatchet Fish
Scientific name: Gasteropelecus sternicla
Family: Gasteropelecidae
Origin: Brazil and south amazon
Adult size: 2.5 in.
Tank Specs Must be well covered because these fish jump & fly over the surface!
Minimum Tank Size: 10 gallons
Water Parameters (PH/GH/KH): 6-7ph
Temperature: 73-80
Special Requirements: Surface space
Suitable Tankmates: Community fish
Minimum Group Size: 4
Diet: Carnivorous. Floating food with a lot of protein. They really like bloodworms
Sexing: Female may be more plump
Breeding and Reproduction: They lay eggs but I don't think they have bred in captivity.

Notes: Prone to Ich. Might be sold as Silver Hatchetfish but those are really Thoracocharax securis and they get bigger. I got these because of their hatchet shape. Their name means hatchet shaped belly.
