Pic of one of my Clown plecos:
Common name: Clown Pleco, Ringlet Pleco
Scientific name: Panaque maccus; L104, L162, LDA22
Family: Loricariidae
Origin: Orinoco Basin
Adult size: 4" max
Tank Specs
Minimum Tank Size: 10+ gallons
Water Parameters (PH/GH/KH): adapts to most tank parameters
Temperature: 73-80
Special Requirements: MUST BE PROVIDED WITH DRIFTWOOD, and strong filtration as they produce lots of wastes.
Suitable Tankmates: Most other fish, avoid anything too aggressive with them though.
Minimum Group Size: 1 + many
Diet: Mostly vegetable matter, needs driftwood in their diet, and provide fresh veggies as well. Some extra protein, such as bloodworms and shrimp pellets can also be given occasionally.
Sexing: Males smaller, and has odontodes along length of tail when mature. Females plumper.
Breeding and Reproduction: Simulate dry season/wet season, and provide with good foods . Also provide with plenty of caves and pipe work to breed in.
Notes: Eats constantly, so requires strong filtration and frequent water changes. Also shy, and nocturnal in nature, so requires patience if you want to observe them in the tank. The more driftwood , and the more different types of wood provided for them, the better.
