King Tiger Pleco
Common name: King Tiger Pleco
Scientific name: Hypancistrus sp. L066
Origin: South America
Adult size: 5 1/2 inches
Tank Specs: Low lighting, densely planted tank with caves, driftwood and plenty of hiding places for each fish.
MinTank Size: 30 gallons
Water Parameters (PH/GH/KH): pH 6.5-7.4; dH 6-10
Temperature: 26-29 C
Tank Mates: Other peaceful community fish
Minimum Group Size: N/A
Diet: Omnivorous bottom feeder, will acceptquality flake food, algae wafers, bottom feeder wafers, cucumbers, zuchunni, sinking omnivore pellets, freeze-dried bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, krill and tubifex.
Sexing: The males have a more distinct colour pattern, are a little darker, have more bristles on their pectoral spines.
Breeding and Reproduction: Cave spawner, males will choose a cave and spawn with a female. Once eggs are produces the male will fan and look after the eggs until they are hatched. Most recommend moving the male and the eggs into a separate tank to hatch. After about 2 weeks the father should be removed from the fry tank. Fry are extremely sensitive to poor water quality so water parameters should be monitored carefully.
