Any big plans for the long weekend? I'll be trying to get these tanks ready for incoming fishies and scarfing down Turkey breast & KFC gravy. I LOVE KFC gravy!

I'll be doing the very same thing prepping for new fish etc. and going to my MIL's on Sunday. Its kinda weird for me as the American Thanksgiving is in November, at home its just as big of a holiday as Christmas. Here the husbo's family well...<bites hole in tongue>

But I am going to Andrews on Saturday...I kinda fibbed about the husbo being away till Saturday so we could go and get new fish lol.

I will be wandering the streets of Venice, Italy and missing Turkey and Pumpkin Pie... I wonder if I can that over there?

A trip to Andrew's will more than make up going to the in-laws. And if you do find something at Andrew's, you can't stay long at the in-laws, right? You have to get the new addition home and acclimated.

The GF is flying in on Friday and we are driving her car to Calgary (finally fixed after $7600 in deer damage) on Sunday. I'll be flying back on Tuesday so won't be around much over the weekend.

Yes indeed! The long distance thing is hard, but at least its temporary. Gotta support the education endeavors when you're young, you'll have until the end of time to be together after that.

Actually that's a depressing thought to some, but not for young love...lol. <suddenly hearing Meatloaf playing the background "So now I'm praying for the end of time..." >. But seriously though, have fun and stay safe.

How did I miss this??? Have a wonderful time! Skip the pumpkin pie and turkey and have laguna pizza! Or bring me some! And walk over to all the converted jewlery shops that used to be butcher stores. And and and... I LOVE Italy, I spent a few weeks in Venice, I stayed on Lido Island its a beautiful place.

Have a safe trip there and back!

Not much planned here!
Finally will be getting some free time after all the car problems that I had to fix!
So I'll probably be taking care of my new and "old" fishies, water changes, tank re-arrangements for new fish to come.

Saturday I'll be boxing up something like 10+ pounds of fish food for shipping down the west coast

Monday I'll be getting some fish ready for shipping on tuesday at the same place, getting their box ready, bags, rubber bands, styro box, heat packs.

Pretty much a fishy weekend!

Thanksgiving around here doesn't mean much, apart from a long weekend :(

I will be going up north to my daughter's cottage for the weekend. Turkey and trimmings it will be. I just love it up there this time of year with all the fall colours & no bugs. Just hope it does not rain, so that I may get to enjoy the outdoors. Won't be going on hikes this year as I just had knee surgery 2 weeks ago, but will enjoy what I can.

As for your trip to Italy, where else are you going besides Venice? Have a wonderful trip! Enjoy! I was there on a tour in May 2006.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Try not to eat too much!

What's a long weekend? I am working Fri, Sat, Sun and off Monday only because they need me on my day off. I am hoping to do a small turkey on Monday, in between setting up new bed in my room and somehow getting new dresser in to Steph's room. Water changes in there too and then off to the craft show for our annual bloomin onion and fudge. Hope every one has a safe and happy thanksgiving.

Bloomin onion and fudge? Wanna elaborate on that? lol

A blooming onion (outback restaurants serve them)is a vidila onion sliced like a flower core still kind of there to hold it togeher and soaked so it opens up. Then dipped in batter and deep fried. Served with a dipping sauce. We have a chip wagon that comes for the craft show and makes these. They are so good, but awful for you, except for the onion part. That is why I only have one once a year. At the craft show there is also a fudge stand also another favourite, a yearly indulgence.

That is one thing that I make well, fudge, so I make it for every event...lol...all different kinds, all based on my Grandmother's recipe. No microwave, totally stovetop.

I don't care for onions so its one thing that will be safe with me.

A blooming onion? Fisrt I've ever heard of it...sounds really tasty. As for fudge, yup, Melody makes great fudge... I can attest to that... mind you it's been a while. <hint, hint> I know, I'm risking :FishOnDaHead: but it's worth the risk for something that's that good.

LOL Well I've been craving it so we'll have to whip some up for the next item on a long list of never-ending favours that you do for me.

Let's also remember those less fortunate over Thanksgiving. Most of the Soup Kitchens and Food Banks put something on. Volunteer your time or pick up a box of mashed pototoes while you're being thankful that you have that option.

Gee thanks, Melody. And it's not a long list of favors, it's reciprocal... as you would say, 'it all comes out in the waterchange'. :Eeewww: (somehow that didn't come out right)... I'm talking about the favors, not the fudge.

Sending some to Ontario would be very nice.
It is yummy, but now you're really going to get me into trouble. (she just might add some arsenic to mine to get me to shut my mouth.:twitcy: )

LOL I think we just found something else to put into Pam's next trade box. Every good girl deserves fudge... but I'll send some to Pam anyway.

Here's some great Turkey Tips (http://www.canada.com/theprovince/news/story.html?id=1f452a88-dbeb-4595-829b-3bf8385b506b)!

:Dinner:

A new Angus Reid Strategies poll shows two-thirds of Canadians will enjoy a special Thanksgiving dinner this year and -- surprise -- most of those will eat too much. In fact, 82 per cent of B.C.ers said they'll overeat. ~The Province

The one sure way to ensure a moist turkey: brining! No ever-eating for me though... will be in Calgary and won't have time to cook a proper dinner.

Melody

I'm not going to ask why you won't have time...lol. Oh I know! You'll be too busy getting me some great Alberta fishies!

Those are great Turkey tips. Another tip: invest in a meat thermometer for all your meats better safe then sorry. Food poisoning of any kind is not something you want to take chances with.
