My Phytophagus i got from BC Kron is looking a bit thin again and not eating...it's looks pretty funny actually - i think it's the female but i'm not sure. She'll swim up to the food and look like she's going to eat but nope!
Anyway here's a couple pics - what do you think?

Yep, I'd say she is. Looks like she has a mouth full of marbles, right? Won't be long now.

i didn't even know about the baby last time till i saw the baby in the tank, this time i noticed but i'm not sure why but i thought cheeks would be puffed, not a double chin...i had to ask my wonderful forum friends what you guys thought.

I have absolutely no idea, but that baby fish is a cutie!

The "looks like I've got marbles in my mouth" is a good indicator she is holding. They do get the "double chin" look as opposed to the puffy cheeks. If you watch her, you will see her rolling them around in her mouth. Let us know when she spits and how many you get.

Yup, she is holding. The other male in the right of the picture might be an Auratus, I would have to see more of it. He wont breed with that female. He will only breed with his kind. I have Blue Aurora's and the are breeding. One just spit out 42, but 1 didn't make it. My other one spit out 5. Plus I have another one holding. I have way to many babies right now.

momma's eating again but i don't see any babies. That's not to say there isn't any - i didn't see these 2 until they were quite big.
I'll just have to wait and see - the momma and daddy are at it again though - the male phytophaggus (sp?) sure is pretty in full breeding colours!

Keep looking... you'll probably find some little ones. Let us know when you do.

Its Phytophagus Xystichromis.

I usually strip the fry from the female at 14days. You should seperate the female from the male for a bit so she can regain some body mass. If your not careful, the male will literally breed her to death.

Congratulations, they turned out beautiful.

the orange baby is learning to sparr - the 2 females were displaying for each other and the baby who is now just over half the size of the females was displaying as well, like it was being taught. So cute.

How do i strip the female next time and i guess i would need to strip them into a separate tank? I'm just letting nature take it's course in the tank with lots of hidey holes but i'm getting one at a time i think. Still haven't seen a baby yet.
