I know that the ALA plans their next conference directly after the last. They're country-wide of course, so that's a bit different. I'm wondering though, how far in advance do clubs plan their auction dates?
The reason I ask is there are some out west here that I'd like to travel to see, but I'd want to book a few days off to go with the weekend. If the auction dates were announced earlier, maybe others would make travel plans for them too.
I'd like to go check out this weekend's Calgary auction for starters. I honestly thought that Blaine was a dedicated hobbyist who would help out a fellow hobbyist in need, but he flat out refuses to come pick me up so I can go to the CAS auction! :NoWay: I'm totally disappointed in him.

Our club's giant auctions are usually always on the same weekends, last of november and last of april.
For november, always depends when the huge national pet show holds their thing at the stadium.

We start on planning the next auction immediately after the last, and usually have a specific dare hammered out at least 2-3 months in advance, sometimes as early as 6 months in advance....for instance, unless something drastic occurs, the next CAS auction will be March 16th.

The Hamilton & District Aquarium Society has two auctions & one show per year. They are usually held in the same months every year & are planned & booked at least 6 months in advance.
If you want one to go to this year I would recommend the CAOAC Convention being held in Edmonton this year. Should be HUGE & its an entire weekend event.
I just may head over there, I've been considering it anyway. Depends on how busy work is I guess.
