I have a little H. Furmosa in my tank. He/she appeared earlier in the week, but keeps hiding on me. So far I think there is only one.

Congrat's! If I recall correctly, that's how they give birth - one here, another there. I'll have to confirm that - I read about too many Livebearers and then get them all mixed up....lol.

I read that too! So your memory is good today.:D

Wow - scary stuff...lol.

Pretty soon you'll have tanks full of them and will have to talk Peggy into taking a bunch.;) At least they don't take up much space.

Yes we have share our addictions:D
I don't think I have told her about the RRM's yet, we will wait for them to breed before letting that out of the bag.;)

Nah just Great Minds think a like.
We seem to both like to keeping researching. I have a binder of info on the fish I have.:)

That's the fun for me. I'm a perpetual learner and there's always something to learn in this hobby. If I didn't breed fish/snails/shrimp, the hobby probably wouldn't keep my interest. We'll never know all there is to know about breeding and genetics.

I foresee many profound conversations in our future :D .... mixed with a whole lot of nonsense to make it fun. Its like my fave story about joining the ALA. In the average fishkeeping circle I may look like I know a lot, but maaaaannn after meeting some of those seasoned Livebearer breeders, I learned one of the most important things I've ever learned in this hobby - I KNOW NOTHING! lol So much to learn.

And my first thought after hearing about that binder? I want to read it...lol.

One thing I have to get better at is recording notes from e-mails. I think I've absorbed it, but there's so many Livebearers that I get it confused after discussing several, or at the very least I second guess the information I'm spouting. So I've started copying and pasting bits and pieces.

Yep totally agree about always something to learn, if your open to it. The binder is just pages printed off the internet about species water chemistry that I can understand.
If I am reading my Breeding program right for the Masters in the livebearer category you have to breed 30 different kinds. And 2 months ago I thought there were only 5. Gups, Mollies, swords, endlers and platies. I have now added H. Furmosas, goodieds, and aneleps (sp?)
Anyone got a list of 30?

Ah but that's the sticker, there are three different species of Molly commonly available, for example, and a few more that aren't. Granted, pure species aren't commonly available either, but we have them.

So far in the Livbearer Species category I've brought in Eiseni, Lateralis, Captivus, Furcidons, Tridens, Lennoni, Vitatta, A. Splendens, G. Holbrooki, Nezzies, S. Multipunctata, Latipinna (2 collection sites), Kykesis, Velifera, Sphenops, Perugia, B. Holdrigdei, Nigrofasciata..... that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

The Halfbeaks are far too aggressive for me to keep, and they need a decent size tank - they're forever bashing that beak in apparently.

If you really want to drool, you should get the Aqualog All Livebearers and Halfbeaks book - pricey, but priceless. I have found it to be very handy, other than a catalogue to drool over...lol. When some of these fish come up as available, you can't find a photo. They're often mislabelled online too.

That would be handy to have. In case there is ever any at the auctions, I might recognize something. $107 including shipping here. ummm Mel stop putting ideas in my head.

That's the one, and its actually a good price, even in US dollars. I checked Amazon.ca when I bought it a couple of years ago, and it was pushing $300 CAD. I ordered it from Amazon.com, bought it from one of their sellers, still in the Shrinkwrap. I can't remember how much it was now. I tried to put it out of my mind...lol.

Your hubby isn't going to let you hang out with me anymore. Too bad you weren't closer - we could share it.

I was wishing you live closer earlier this evening. What hubby does not know won't hurt him. He has a new snowmobile on order so he has nothing to say if he does find out.
