New German Rams

My new German ram are really nice and will make a great addition to my tanks when out of quantine. Wedmesday night I notice one is really pale but has this beautiful purple glow to him/her check the others their colours are still bright. Then noticed the other two keep him from each end of the tank and chasing him. I decided to remove him and put him in a little critter keeper for now thinking he is possibly sick, but he was not acting sick at all. Thinking the worst.
Checked on him regularly yesterday and today and shortly after moving him he hid for a bit and then out he came colours all bright again. I am thinking that he is a male and the others were to and since they had laid claim to half a tank each it left him with no place to call home. If this is the case I am glad I moved him when I did. So I am hoping the third one that is in the tank is a female. She seems to be able to move freely around without the other two bothering her like the did the other guy.
I am new to these little guys would love to hear your experiences with them.

You have been hanging around that Melody chick way too much.:laugh: Just moved the three in their new tank, just so I could get a pic of them for you and of course it is one of the ones with the algae as you can see. This is the tank that has the least amount of beard algae.

Now that I have pic of her standing still I think maybe she is from what I have read the black spot of the females has shimmering spots in it and the end of the dorsal is rounder and the spike at the front stays short. So I think she must be, as she meets all the criteria.

How long does it take to find out if you have a pair? Do they have to pair off before you know for sure? They are so pretty!!!

You are supposed to be able to tell them apart, but mine are either not old enough or are all females. Hoping they are just too young to tell yet.

Could not resist this guy. I was at the lfs today and since I kind of have a feeling that all mine will be females I picked up this (guy I hope) if not oh well. He is almost double the size of mine so he is showing way more colour. As soon as he is out of QT will be adding him with the rest and hope he finds a mate.
