My Son brought this story home from school for me last year. A song & music video about a Remembrance Day in Nova Scotia and a royally PO'ed shopper, all based on a true story.

The singer was in the drug store when there was a store announcement as the clock approached 11 AM on November 11th, asking that shoppers observe 2 minutes of silence. People respected the request, except for one man with his young daughter. He got angry when the clerk wouldn't serve him and loudly went off on her. The singer tells of how hard it was for him to keep his own silence as he got more and more angry at the guy and wanted to hit him.

The video's images and the song's lyrics are very moving. It really brings it all home.

This link (http://www.terry-kelly.com/pittance/pittance_en.htm#) will take you to the webpage where you can read the story.

Music video here (http://www.army.forces.gc.ca/chief_land_staff/remembrance/english/video.asp).

Lest we forget.

Thank you so much for posting the link to the webpage, Melody. It is a video well worth viewing. We owe much both to our veterans and those who serve in our military today. I plan on sharing the link with family & friends.

:Poppy-Icon-3: I would like to think that all CAC members will observe 2 minutes silence at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11th.

Always makes me teary. I couldn't see a mention on the webpage of the Vet's in the video. I suspect they're real Vet's but I'm not sure. A couple look familiar to me, which isn't surprising being from the Maritimes. Maybe its just the seniors in uniform that triggers that though.

Thanks for bumping this thread this year. I agree it's such a very and moving video and puts things into perpective for us all. I watched it this morning and I plan to make it one of the things I do each year in the hours leading up to the 11th hour as one of the ways to bring home the huge sacrifice that was made.

Links have changed, but this beautiful song and video by Terry Kelly is something I will always make part of my Remembrance Day as I take time to pay tribute to our troops.
