Operation Red Nose started this weekend and is available in BC, AB, NS, NB, PQ, MB, ON and PEI. Just click on the link and select your Province.

"Operation Red Nose is a unique program dedicated against drinking and driving. Essentially, it is a volunteer driving service provided during the Christmas Holiday Season to all drivers who have been drinking or who do not feel fit to drive their own vehicle back home. It is an original and free way of getting a safe ride in our own vehicle without driving it!"

You can also volunteer in your own city if that appeals. You could be saving many lives.

Have a safe & magical Holiday Season!

It's good too see this program has finally made inroads in Saskatchewan.-

The cities of Saskatoon and Regina have been offering a similar service for a few years now.-

Although I don't want to be thinking about Christmas until December, Christmas parties have begun and Operation Red-nose (http://www.operationnezrouge.com/en/)is up and running starting this weekend (Fri and Sat night).

Plan a safe ride home from the party.

Just to say how important NOT DRINKING AND DRIVING is! We have had 4 death in our city in 3 weeks from drunk drivers. Most were young people killed while being T-Boned by a drunk. Course Drunk lives....will get a smack on the wrist...but the familys of the lost ones will forever endure the pain of the loss of a loved one from a STUPID AVOIDABLE act!

Use Operation Red Nose and Save a life..it maybe your own!

Looks like Edmonton may be shutting down their Red Nose program (http://www.edmontonjournal.com/opinion/blogs/Edmonton+Operation+Nose+parked/3918905/story.html) this year.

Thanks for letting us know, Melody. It's a shame to see cuts to a program that could help to save lives. Let's hope that the message gets out to Edmonton folks who might have been planning on using the service and that they make alternative plans for getting home from the party.

Just a reminder to all with Christmas parties and celebrations on these days and New Year's Eve on the horizon, to make sure you have a safe ride home. Don't drink and drive!

Operation Red-nose (http://www.operationnezrouge.com/en/)is one option available in many communities across the country. Other options are transit, taxis and designated drivers.

Be sure you and everyone else has a safe and happy holiday season.
