My stupid Python broke. I was just starting to do a big waterchange on the 25G when I felt water dripping on my foot. Turns out there is a huge crack on the plastic piece that houses the ball valve. This thing has not had a lot of use so I am quite disappointed at the quality, especially considering what it cost. Anyone know if I can find a cheap alternative to replace the valve piece? Where should I go looking? I'd rather not pay LFS prices for a replacement.

I got replacement fittings for mine from MOPS.

Of all the pieces to crack, that's probably going to be the hardest to find an alternative replacement for I should think. You could try Home Depot and see if they have connectors with a ball valve in them. The problem is that they ususally put the ball valve in nozzles, etc. that attach to hoses so I don't know if you'll find one.::(:

Good luck!

I had the same thing happen, and i hadnt finished refilling the tanks yet.
I know how you feel, and that part is just not readily available:mad:
so i super glued mine, that was 6 months ago, and its still going ok, i have a slight drip, so i have to make sure the valve is always over the tank.

I made my own python with a waterbed drain/fill kit from Walmart. They are sold close to the linen department on a little hanging rack at the end of the row. They are 6.47$ in a little navy blue box.

Edit: As I reread this, I realize you're talking about the valve. You can get those at any hardware store in the garden section. Look for a hose valve. You can get plastic ones, metal ones, etc...depending on your python, you might need a male or female connector as well to make it all work.
