Just wondering if there is any interest in a group buy for these little guys.

I don't have all the details yet, but I thought I would put out some feelers.

They are very hard to find in Canada, I managed to find some in the US, but none willing to ship to Canada. The only Canadian company ( Thanks Melody ) I can find has a minimum order of 100. Thats way more than I need, but if we can split up to a few people, maybe worth it.

There isn't alot of information about these little guys, but what I've managed to find out is that they are fairly easy to keep.

They are scavengers eating whatever they can find. They will breed in an aquarium.
It appears that they are to small to be much of a danger to fish and plants.

They are classed as a type of crab, but they look like a combination of a crab and crayfish.

I don't have any of my own pictures of them, but Google can find few for you.

Got some more information, cost of these little guys would be about $10.00 each.

Delivery would take 2 - 3 weeks.

I'm assuming that means it would take him that long to send them, not that long to transport them....lol. Thought I'd clarify that before people thought you were nuts and they'd all arrive dead. There's plenty enough reasons to think your nuts without that.

Yea, thanks for noting that, 2 or 3 weeks from order to delivery. From what I understand, they will be wild caught in South America and shipped to Canada from there.

No worries about damage to species population at this time. According to the supplier, there are still plenty of these critters in the wild, they are not threatened or endangered and because they are not yet in high demand, there is very little captive bred supply.

I don't know about everyone else, but I love having livestock you just can't buy in a store !

Melody, I have no idea why you might think I was nuts

They're a mix of orange and wild dwarf crayfish, I've been looking so long for them I forgot to ask if they were Cambarellus shufeldtii or Cambarellus patzcuarensis, but I'll find that out when my supplier responds to my never ending emails.

In the hope of spreading these guys & gals around, I bought 5 male/female pairs.

Hopefully they'll make lots of babies :D .

Because I like you. I only like nutty people. Nobody else knows how to have fun like they do. Today I stirred green food coloring into icecream, topped it with red sprinkles and pronounced it Christmas icecream...lol...the kid loved it. Only a nut would come up with that.... or a very bored Mom:rolleyes: .

Before I push the Classifieds chatter rule much more, I was thinking that your shipment timeline will take you right into the Holidays. Avoid the week between Christmas & New Years - between backed up mail and holidays, your chances of them taking too long are good.

I hope that they turn out to be Cambarellus Patzcuarensis then, this way, I will trade them with the fishes .... hahahahahaha

How much did they cost you per pair? From where did you purchase them from?

Cheers
