Hi and :Welcome: Very pretty convicts. 50? :swoon: Wow you really are getting into them in a big way. I don't know much about cichlids but I if I'm not mistaken, I gather convicts get pretty big (4 or 5 inches). I'm assuming you have long term plans for these fish as they grow. Love to hear about it.

And considering how quickly they make fry, soon housing for 500 will be required. ::D:

yeah they will most likely get to be about 5-6 inches. i have had some a while back and over 60 africans in a 190 gal i now have piranhas a huge 13-14 inch oscar (tiger)

a 6 inch long gold fish and a BGK and a bunch of khuli loach's i am trying to get some indo tiger datnoids and maybe a few archer 's:smile:

So... i am confused. You have 50... all of which shouldent be housed with each other unless in male females pairs, one pair per tank. 35gallons+ recommended...

Not to jump to conclusions. Just please tell me you have 25 empty 40 gallon tanks waiting for them

lol yes dont jump

they are split up 30,30,40 gal more than enough room they are only fry..

and no i would not have them in with the piranhas i do have them in with my ghost knife fish

and i have over 300 gallons of water for all of them so thats not a problem

I've always thought the idea of setting up a convict only tank would be pretty cool. I rather like them myself. A friend of mine has a tank with a couple paired convicts (4 or 6 total in a big tank). They reproduce quite readily and take care of the fry whether it's their fry or the fry from another pair of convicts. The fry from different batches would get all mixed together and they'd raise whatever group they happen to be corralling at the time.

Welcome :)

I wouldn't mind seeing a pic of the whole tank looks interesting.
(pictures lots of pots, caves and hidey holes)

that isnt true, saying u can only keep one pair per tank is completely inaccurate , if u have a decent size tank, u can house multiple pairs in their, i have a 90, i have 2 pairs of convicts, both spawning about 5" from eachother, that alone proves your statement is wrong, the person i bought this tank from, had 30+ cons, with multiple pairs, at least 6, maybe more. im not trying to be rude, sorry if i come across that way, but i know many people with much more then one pair per tank.
