These are done through glass etching (very time consuming). The mugs I make require creating a stencil type drawing, transferring it to a sticky media (like mactac), adhering it to the mug, hand cutting out the 'stenciled' design with an exacto blade, coating very carefully with etching cream and then of course the cleanup.

Also, a number of photo shops will print a picture on a mug for you (for a price) so I am assuming that a .jpg drawing could also be printed on a mug. You could always inquire.

you can also get glass paint - all you need to do is clean the surface with alcohol to remove finger prints etc... let it dry and paint with a brush. Then you put it in a low oven as per instructions of the paint.
It's fun!

The easiest way is to find a print shop that can print on mugs. I've also done the etching, both with acid and sandblasting an abrasive and it requires quite a bit of setup work.

I don't know if CACAdmin would be willing to make you a custom etched one if the symbol/shape is easy enough?
