Are these the same as peppermint swords, and are constantly changing color? If not, I have never seen a sword like this. Another Asian invention.

I don't know much about swords, but these look like a version of the "Koi" think that angelfish breeders have been doing, no? Nice looking fish.

I saw them at pauls aquarium for a couple of dollars. I forget what they called them but they were koi swordtails with black spots. It might have been marble koi or something.:Dunno:

Yup, Pacific Aquatics had them quite awhile ago. Koi x Painted I suspect... could be some white/spotted platy in there. They were priced around the same as any Swordtail. They are a striking colour form though. There's also Tuxedo Kois.

I notice that particular seller seems to want badly to exploit the Hifin etc craze, fair enough, but he's presenting some fish that we've had around for years and they're nothing to get excited about. Probably misunderstood why the Sailfin Swordtails are selling for so much. Oh well, if he can get that price all the more power to him. I don't think the black Koi variations have been around for too long, but a good year I'd guess.

There's no Peppermint in there that I can see, Mr. Sealth. Peppermints are white and then get their red as they age. They often have black Swords as well, but I've never seen black anywhere else on mine. I take it you read the article in Livebearers? Awesome info, I love that mag. I illustrated Darrell's article with the Koi & Peppermints and it was my Peppermint on the cover. I did a Christmas graphic for this month's cover, which just went to the printer this week. Hopefully I'll get it in Canada before the Holiday.

You should try to grab Darrells Hifin females he has on there - They throw both Black Helmets & Rubnose. You won't find any better quality, that's for sure.:yes:
