We've decided to run a different type ‘photo contest’: one that any member can enter regardless of photography skill.

What do we mean by 'Most Original Tank'? Everyone’s tank is original in some way be it the actual tank, the aquascaping, a particular tank ornament, the fish, whatever. Members will vote for what they think is the most original.

Details on how to enter and how to vote for which tank you think is the most original will follow in this thread shortly.

How the Contest Works


To enter the contest, post a photo of your 'original' tank in the Contest Photos: Most Original Tank (http://www.canadianaquariumconnection.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3083) thread as follows:

Only 1 photo per member.
Only 1 post per member.
Limit your post to just the photo.
No comments in the thread. All comments, etc. will be deleted.Note: Submissions must be photos taken by you of a tank you own.

The winner will be decided by a poll in the Contest Photos: Most Original Tank (http://www.canadianaquariumconnection.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3083) thread. Polls are controlled by the vBulletin software so you get one and only one vote. Make sure you review all submitted photos carefully before voting. Your vote is final and cannot be changed.


Voting will begin on January 13th after all submissions are in.


Now let's have some fun with this contest. You have until Jan. 13th to get your photos in but why wait. Post it now! I'm eager to see everyone's tank. :yes: I'll go open the Photo thread for submissions now.

We wanted a contest that anyone could enter regardless of photography skill so it's not your usual 'Best Picture' Contest. Members will be voting simply on which tank they think is the 'Most Original'.::D:

I did but I have a poor chance of winning.. my tank isn't near as pretty ::(: but I entered just in case something happened and I won I could use the food.

The criteria is 'Original' so anybody stands a chance to win. The members will have the final say with their votes.

yah, but even in 'originality', if you can take a better picture than somebody else, even if their tank is more original, than that kinda puts everything down the drain doesnt it?.. lol.. Also, please tell me the people that won last time cant win again, cause that would just suck if they won again.

It doesn't matter how good a picture you can take, members will be voting on originality, not photography skills. Also, the contest is open to all CAC members with the exception of the administrators and their immediate family members (having won a prize in a previous contest has no bearing on eligibility to enter this contest)..

:boohoo: Do we want some cheese with that whine? :laugh: Everyone can see what is original and what is not original and understand that its not picture quality and we can't blame that for not winning. If people complain about it we probably won't have any more contests and that would be bad. Its supposed to be fun so please be good sports and don't ruin it for everyone!!!! :pompom: good luck!!!!!

Sorry I was a little sad that day so I thought all the negatives! I was waiting for 1 month for this game to come from a guy off ebay.. doesn't seem like its coming. Wasted 50 dollars I COULD HAVE SPENT ON FISH!

If I had a little more time, I was going to put together a really tacky 'plastic' tank. I was thinking of something way out there, neon colours, goofiest ornaments I could find etc.

Too many projects on the go already right now, maybe next contest.

It would be difficult to make it completely anonymous since most people have posted photos of their tanks before in the various forums anyways.

Remember, it's most original tank. Not most expensive. I was going to use an existing tank and equipment plus part of my Star Wars Lego collection. I just didn't have time to set it up since I just moved. You don't need to spend a lot of money to make something original, just use a little imagination.

An uder water tea party- tea pot for a cave, cream & sugar for smaller caves, teacups for plants- some thing like that. Could be fun to do.

Each and everyone one is so different from the other, I like it! The planted tanks have inspired me to try again (super bug meds/salt killed /maimed most of my plants) and the tanks with bright colours and gravel have also inspired me as well as Mrs. JP's idea. :)

So I now need an amazingly aquascaped planted tank & fish tank in honour of all things girly! Hey I've seen little glass shoe ornaments that would work! :laugh:
Now who's coming over to help me? And who's got those chips?

Aside from the contestants, I think it was a great opportunity for the rest of us to see the creativity of our members which was awesome!!!
