If your wish was a fish which fish would it be?

I would wish for a pike cichlid. Not your average run of the mill commonly seen at lfs Orange Pike that gets really big and is really mean. :nah:
I'd like the Crenicichla cincta variety. Ok so they still get big and mean, but they're OH SO DARN PRETTY!

The other cichlid which caught my eye a while back is the Paratilapia bleekeri. It's a surreal looking fish. If I could have one or maybe a pair, they would have their own tank in the bedroom, yes I'd break the no tanks in the bedroom rule just for them lol. These guys are endangered so really all the more reason to break some rules and have a few :D

It's doubtful I'll ever get to have either, but one can always dream

Really cool fish... I particularly like the Paratilapia bleekeri. Just think how cool it would look to have a pair of them in their own tank enhanced at night with Blainep's LED moonlights (http://www.canadianaquariumconnection.com/forum/showthread.php?t=111) moon-glow effect.

Yes you can always dream... you never know what Santa might bring.:SmileyOrnament:

Well unfortunately in this case, Santa would also have to squeeze a 100+gal tank through the chimney to house the magnificent beauties heheh.

Details... details! Just add the tank to the wishlist... and don't worry, if Santa can fit down the chimney, I figure he can get the tank down there too:laugh: with a little help from hubby maybe... along with all the other stuff a new tank needs. (Of course, remeber, I never suggested it... not me... must have been somebody else.) ;)

Well lucky for you I know of a catalogue with Fish Names, unfortunately it doesn't come equipped with pics, but the web site does have a nice gallery ;) I usually end up just googling most lol.

With my limited exposure, I'd wish for Mbuna... and endangered species because I'm into conservation through captive populations.

Good Choice! There's so many fish that seem to be falling prey to extinction, it'd be nice if they were more readily available to hobbyists so that we may help preserve them.

The best place to find threatened species is through the larger fish clubs, especially species(group)-specific clubs. Your local club can often connect you to the right people as well, so get that VAHC membership going! ;)

I do love Cichlids, I just don't have room to keep and breed aggressives properly. I usually can make something work if I want to, but my firm personal limitation is "If I can't keep something well, I won't keep it at all."

Cichlids are not happy in small tanks as a rule, even the one Yellow Lab I have is in a 20G by herself, and I'd still like to give her more room. Seeing her in a 10G, which by stock-load guidelines should have been plenty big for her, taught me a lot about the requirements of Cichlids. She was not happy. She couldn't get a decent swim going, she'd start to take off after a feeding like other fish do, but there was just no room for her to really swim. So she got the 20G, but even there she looks cramped when it comes to speed-swimming.

Anyways, someday I'll own more. I really like the one we have (technically my Son's), they seem to be so intelligent and their looks are almost human-like.

LOL... I'm not to fancy, I'd like either another oscar, or a pike

I love the big guys! If only I had more tanks or more space.

I'm thinking maybe a breeding group of L183 plec's or half dozen Benthrochromis Tricoti, I would add a few more syno petricolas to the list, but I think I'm gonna have to go out and get some sooner, before my wife changes her mind:D .

So many fishies so little time;)

LOL An early Christmas present! Tis the Season & all that!

In fact, males are SUPER hard to buy for, so guys, get your requests in right now because the odds are in your favour.

So many fish, so little space, would be my version  . Methinks someone should stop on the way home from fishy buying and treat the wife to something. Sounds like you have a keeper there;).

Well I did do some hard time at "linens and things" and then Ikea, it was husband ****:err: . And the search continues for some petricola......I did however find some tricoti and also looks like I may be getting the green light for a 10-12 Fossorochromis rostratus. And now that I've seen a Champsochromis caeruleus I{'m starting too look into them.

You wanna talk about needing more space, the only thing that makes getting these guys in the house possible is that they'll probably be fry or juvies when I get them;) . I'm gonna need some bigger tanks

If I had the room and tank size, I'd love a big school of wild caught Heckel or Red spotted Green Discus.
