I just though it was funny watching my pleco try and eat the piece of krill that crayfish doesn't finish. He works so hard nawing away at it making so little progress! It's really funny to watch. That and shrimp pellets! Occasionaly he'll naw on an algae wafer but if it isn't zuchinnin he seems more interested in the carnivorous foods LMFAO

Just though this might amuse some of you as it does me. Or maybe you even know why lol.

That's because Krill is yummy - my snails love it too. Its a bit hard for some fish to handle because its tough, but they all seem to like it in my tanks. Its reasonably good for them and it is one of the best colour enhancers for the red/yellow scale and of course, its very high in protein. Its also low in saturated fat, a good source of Omega 3, 6 & 9 and the exceptionally high antioxidant levels blow other fish out of the water (NPI...lol). Unfortunately, it does spoil easily and quickly which is probably why I've found that it fouls the water quickly. I feed it sparingly and don't feed it to the small tanks at all. Make sure you remove anything that doesn't get eaten and keep the water changes up. If a cycle is in the works, I'd skip it completely until the tank has settled down.

We have a company here in BC, Fishalicious (http://www.fishalicious.ca/), who makes a very nice flaked Krill, among other forms. There's a list of stores that carry it on the site, and you can always ask your LFS if they don't already have it. I buy mine just up the street. The flaked is easier for the smaller fish to handle. I use the freeze-dried whole Krill in homemade food - the food processor breaks it up nicely.

Plecos can lean either way in their requirements and both ways in their preferences. They gnaw away on dead fish too :Eeewww: .

Well that does make sence! I always made sure there was a little more than the cray would eat just so that I could watch my pleco knaw away at it! It's always gone by morning. He just devours it. I don't know about not using it untill the cycle is done strictly because I have my cray in there. If he's not kept well feed he might get some ideas about the others in his tank. I'm still trying to get into some kind of feeding routine with him. He can be picky sometimes other times he'll eat anything he can get his little claws on

Plecos will eat just about any fish on the bottom of the tank that is deceased or for food. However what type of pleco do you have? Certain ones (Hypancistrus for example) should have meat in their diet where as others need more greens than meat. Like all food fed to fish you should be feeding them in moderation and variety. throw a zucchini in there once and a while or some lettuce... or as a special treat melon rind!

Who gets the melon part? Who is treating who here exactly?

But yup, there is often a difference in their requirements and their preferences, just like humans who make chocolate factories filthy rich....

... and diet clinics.

I'm not 100% sure on what kind he is. I was told it's a clown pleco but it was a small pic and he was much younger. I will get a new pic and see if anyone here can Id it when I get my camera back.

That's just a scary place overall, if I recall correctly...lol. But then I'm not the downtown anywhere type.

I have spent many, many hours in that Airport. I usually fly via Toronto when I head 'home' to NB. I hate the Montreal route.

Just don't pull a 'Dundee' and you should survive.:twitcy:
