I love the name of the site: It Rains Fishes! (http://www.itrainsfishes.net/content/)

It looks like a well put together resource for those interested in killies from Central and South America.

They can be hard to come by. Most are difficult to produce in large numbers for commerical purposes. The annuals like the South American and African annuals can produce HUGE spawns, but you have to wait many weeks, or even months for the eggs to develop in peat!

Hobbyists are your best bet.

There always seems to be lots of killies at the Fall and Sping VAHC auctions. I don't know if there are any at the auctions they hold at the regular meetings. (I always seem to be working those nights.) However, if you'd ever like me to, I could try to get some for you. Or you could time your next visit to the lower mainland to coincide with the Annual VAHC auction next fall. That one is open to the public. (I can just see you explaining that to your wife: Honey, guess what? I just found out that there's a big fish auction while we're in Vancouver.:Fibbing: Why don't we go & see what there is? ).

LOL Jay , she doesnt really mind going for road trips, she has an aunty in Chilliwack, so it will be a good excuse to go anyway, but if we cant and the offer still stands, id really appreciate you doing that. I,ll send you some more plants ,for your trouble:smile:

there used to be a killie breeder on aquabid that was based somewhere in BC.
I was able to get a few simp species from him.

it was something karl possible killiekarl not sure anymore.
and thanks a ton for that link been trying to find something along those lines.
the actual association for south american annuals is rather limited on how much actual information it has available to the public sadly.

I got some eggs from a guy in Delta BC through the AKA (American Killifish Association) named Karl Walter. Same guy perhaps? IIRC, he doesn't ship during the winter.

There is also a Vancouver area killie club, but I don't know if it is active. Might be worth checking out.

Sure, we could do a trade or something. I'll be in touch before the next auction and if you can't make it, I'll try to get some for you.

yup karl walter was his name :D had forgotten what it was and couldn't find my envelope from his eggs.
I will ask a contact I have if he is still alive when I had shown him the site he mentioned sending the sites owners some eggs for that site.
hopefully he will be able to tell me.
