Thought I would post this just in case anyone is thinking of getting one of these.

They mount under your tank, attached to the output line of any canister filter. I placed one on output of my Fluval 305 filter (one of two 305 filters for a 80 gallon tank). The control has degrees on it making it simple to set the temp you want. I have checked the temp in the tank with a very accruate digital thermometer borrowed from work, and in the far end of the 4 foot tank from the output of the filter I am reading 78.4 degrees with the unit set at 78.

They are more expensive than in tank heaters, but not having the heater showing is a big plus in my mind. The only problem I had, is in hooking mine up to the fluval hose, had to use a small amount of silicone to seal it from leaking. I believe that for Fluval Filter hose anyone should buy the extra rubber seal ring that is available.

Would I buy another one, yes in fact plan on buying the 200 watt for my 30 gallon tank very soon.

Best place to buy that I have found is below, they are great people to deal with.

I use the same heaters on all my tanks and I am using Rena and Eheim filters and had no issue with the corrugated hoses like on a fluval, part of the reason I am not a fluval fan, but the heaters are really good and and work well temps are bang on once you set the heater, the little dial's are off on one of mine.
As for PetsandPonds one of the best places to deal with, I have been dealing with them for over the past 8 years and always have excellent service and response to all e mails.

Heard many good things about the Hydor's too, reliable and very precise. I bought one on Boxing Day, one day I'll get it set-up. :spinny:

If you look under my 150 you can see it in the return line of the filter.

JMHO but it really cleans up the tank and it is a super unit, I have one that is like 5 years old and it is wroking fine, the only thing is on one of mine the dial is really off on the temp, so once I got it close to the temp I have maked it with white paint and it works awesome; and this new one is close and whhen I get the temp on the thermometer I just leave them and no problems. thanks for posting those pictures.... I agree that everything you can get out of the tank that is mechanical the better....

I will definitely be buying a couple or three of these.... for a 300Watt submersible your looking at 40 bucks... so this isn't much more

They are good heaters, best of all nothing in the tank. I now have one in my 30 gallon and the Oscar tank, both work perfectly.

Its really an advantage in the Oscar tank, since I can't even keep a thermometer in that tank.
