When I have tiny fry, such as eggers, I usually only trickle in the water movement for the first couple of weeks via loosely pinched airline. I have found that they do far better this way at first and it avoids filter munching. I do the water changes in these tanks several times/week so filtration isn't a big deal.
This would result, I presume, in more C02 in the water column. Would such a set-up be enough for plants that say, benefit from C02 as opposed to actually requiring it? I was thinking of having a permanent fry tank with good lighting and lotsa plants U C. Since there are some that do better with C02 and I don't do injections, I figured it might give me the opportunity to try one or two species. I know I can't have those that actually require it, but maybe those that benefit would do better in such an environment? Fast growing varieties would also help keep the environment clean and that's what I usually use.
Whatcha think? Any suggestions for such a set-up? I figure Najas Grass would do well in there for starters, since they don't like water movement much.
