Spikey Moss Pics

I started growing this spikey moss out and have not been very impressed so far.
It grows quickly but easily tangles and mats with itself. Perhaps it is because I have it growing on a 45 degree angle piece of driftwood???? The other thing that I dont really like is that it is always pearling. One might think that it would be neat but I find it distracting.

I think the pearling looks nice. In the first pic what are the two plants behind? The one with the bit of colour and the one to it's right.

The one behind it is a red tiger lotus. I think the one you are referring to is sunset hygro
