My LFS had potted plants on sale this week so I picked up 4 new centerpiece type plants for my tanks.

They are :
2 - Nymphaea Lotus 'zenkeri' - aka Tiger Lotus
1 - Cardamine Lyrata - aka Chinese Ivy
1 - Alternanthera Reineckii 'lilacina' - Couldn't find a common name.

I decided to try out the potted plant idea, so I stopped and Wallyworld and picked up 4 small clay pots for them. I had some Florite left over from another project, so I used it in the pots as a planting medium.

Naturally, I bought the plants based on their looks alone and found out what they were and what their requirements are when I got home. Looks like I should be able to look after them ok with what I have.

I'll post pictures tomorrow, lights are out in the fishroom now.

I'll look forward to the pic's. I'm still procrastinating on the pots, or on the carrying of the Eco Complete...lol. Maybe you'll inspire me. I should go look at Mr. Grandpoohbah's again.

There is one of the Lotus plants, the lighter of the 2

The second Lotus, darker, much more red in the leaves.
From what I have read, these will send shoots to the surface and flower. Flowers in the fishtank sounds cool.

That's the Alternanthera reineckii. Alot of red in this plant also, makes a nice contrast in the tank.

A little had to see in the background, but that's the Ivy. Very fragile looking plant, but looks great.

Off topic as far as plants go, but someone had to be in on the action. That's a male Poecilia latipinna, Rio San Antonio. After a couple weeks in their new home they have exploded in color.

And his very pregnant girlfriend.

fishenthusiast, your little wee Limia Tridens in their new home. Just so you know they made it here.

That's all for now folks. Gotta go get some dinner.

Good looking plants. I have a red lotus, the 2 in ceramic pots haven't sent any runners to the surface but the one I have in a larger container gets regular root tabs and they're constantly sending leaves up to the surface. No flowers though, the leaves get too shredded before they even have a chance to think about flowering.

Inspiring - I want to go work on mine now but the child insists on his turkey dinner. Demanding boy.
