This should be stickied (hint hint). Just so you all know, I know voting works. I have been a member of the number one site on Aquarank since the day they started (just because I am a member doesn't mean I post, personally I don't like the forum). I watched them start at the bottom and now they are number one every day. They have a rapidly growing member base with over 1300 members in around a year.

The only reason I don't sticky it is because it gets more attention if its bumped....lol....its like banners - people don't see stickies after they've been there awhile. We can start new threads too, just to grab attention. Maybe I'll do both!

I like voting because I always find new sites while I'm there. Its a great set-up - we all benefit from each other's traffic through exposure. The target market is bang on too. Its also a fun way to involve the community in its promotion.

As for numbers, they don't concern me as much as posters and the quality of those posts, but its always fantastic to have a community grow steadily!

Thanks for these reminders - eventually I'll get it into my routine.:rolleyes:

I totally agree, the numbers aren't what counts, you can have over 10,000 members, but if only 5 post in a day what good is that? You are so right about the target market and the good thing about that is eventually enough people will join that do have constructive things to say. Then we get lots of quality. That is the hope anyway.

You are right about the sticky, I don't see the other sticky's we have cause I have read em all already :yes:. I actually never thought of that. I have seen it (again on that darned number one site) put front and centre of the off topic chat. You can't miss it. Doesn't mean I click on the link of course, but it is there. I don't know if that type of formatting is available on this type of forum, but it is a thought. In addition to creating fun new threads of course.

you could right click and if your using firefox you can open it in a new tab or new window your choice, internet explorer you would have to open in a new window.
microsoft doesnt have tabbing yet.

Actually using IE7 you can open it in a new tab by pressing CTRL and left clicking, I was just too lazy :yes:. That and I wasn't expecting it to open in the same window so I wasn't prepared.

For a forum with a membership of 1000, there certainly aren't many voters! :frown:

Another forum I'm on has 500 members and usually is in the top 25 of AquaRank! Come on people, show you care and vote! It's easy, just go to The Waterfront Cafe when you log in and vote. Then go to viewing the postings. :wink:

Vote? Anyone can vote except me, because I'm the registered owner of the domain. And everyone can vote once a day (one vote each per day for both the forum and auction)... with the exception of FishLinkCentral which only allows you one vote for each in total.

In the past we've been ranked on many near the top but I think people voted more when we started up... eager to invite the world. :wink: People get comforatable into their routine and often forget about voting because it's not on the main page and they just go directly to new threads or ones they have subscribed to. (That's why this thread is bumped occasionally to remind people where and how to vote.)

The auction links are deceiving as FishTopSites displays currently displays #42 but that's an overall rating of all sites. It's currently #5 in it's category of Fish Stores and Supplies. Aquabid is #15 in the same category.::D:
