If your fish ever look stressed or sick and you can't figure out what the problem is, you can't go wrong by doing a water change.

Winter waste water? Flatten out snowy area, attach watering can end to dump bucket, and flood yourself a nice rink.
Keep in mind that this isn't clean water so please, no spraying the goalie with ice chips.

Don't do your water changes late at night, you might end up with a wet head.

Want to know the TDS and nitrates of your tank?

Plant some sunset hygro in it. If the leaves begin to crinkle your TDS is low. If the leaves that are close to the surface are still green and not pink than your nitrates are high.

This is only a very rough estimate.

Changing substrate? Emptying a tank? Use a 4' by 3/4" diameter hose to suck up the old sand or gravel. Fast and clean.

To net pleco's easily, place a large net with driftwood inside the tank, let sit. Return remove net gently, lift up wood pleco will drop into net.

 My brother got me a uninterupted power supply for my computer one christmas and I use that with my fry tank so they don't get cold if the power goes off. Its easy and small and doesn't make much noise. I don't have to worry even if I am not home!!!::D:

Most aquatic mosses are in fact terrestrial mosses. I have had great success(2 months in and growing) with mosses picked right outside in vancouver, no co2 and inadequate light (less than 2 watts per gallon)
