o.k, I got a bone to pick with Hikari packaging, in particular all sizes of their bulked size frozen bloodworms.
Every size I've tried of their bloodworms, whether it be 4 oz. to 16 oz frozen flats of bloodworms, the ziploc bag that it comes it splits or no longer locks for me because it separates and cannot seal anymore. Quite often it happens before I'm even 25% done with it. The cubes are fine because you just have to punch out the foil, but it's cheaper to buy the flats.
It's too bad, I like their bloodworms...it's pretty clean, the plastic bag itself is decent quality, but get a grip on the seal!

Have you contacted them? Maybe they have no idea? Stand up Mr. Hp! Be counted!
I use all different sizes of Ziplock bags for that stuff. Even if the zipper works on the package, they're usually so thin that I'm never sure if its completely zipped or not. I get frustrated and chuck them in a ziplock. :D
And I want you to know that I expected to hear about a food containing beef, which I found odd indeed.

Well, that's too logical of course.
When the first bag blew up a few years ago, a google produced every retailer under the sun selling Hikari. There's Hikari sales US but that was a buck waiting to be passed. I should try anyways, and see how I get with that.
No, no Hikari "BEEF" here. I have non-Hikari mysis shrimp that's been opened and closed more than my bloodworm bags combined and the ziploc is still going strong. Wonder if all Hikari frozen product bags are just as flimsy?

You go buy them all to test them. I'll wait here. :D

That happens with my hikari bloodworms too. So I always buy the cubes. When my packages burst like that all the worms get freezer burnt and my fish don't like it.
Another thing about hikari is that they have msg in lots of their pellets. I emailed the guys at hikari usa to ask why but they never emailed me back :) but then again I still feed hikari to my fish, even the things with msg, b/c they like it so much and they look so healthy.

I think you guys should write to them. MSG is one thing, but packaging is easily fixed. Unfortunately, better packaging would probably also increase the cost. Maybe not - depends on how they view it. Happy customers mean more purchases, unhappy customers means less - the answer is clear.

I just zipped my Hikari BBS. No prob's. However, the cubes are smaller than the adult foods so maybe its a size thing.

This thread title is amusing :)
I use the cubes, and my fridge-freezer is crap. I dunno if it is because there is a little crack between the plastic and the foil or what but mine always get freezer burned too. I cut the bad part off, but it's annoying especially when the little buggers are "gold plated" ;)

Just as well...half the time I never use up the package. I usually find it several hours later or the next morning in a wet, red mushy pile because I forgot to put it back in the freezer. :realmad:
