I was shocked and saddened to read just a few minutes ago that we lost Fishworld manager, Jeremy Babyak in a fire early yesterday morning.
Our heartfelt condolences to his family and to the staff of Fishworld. He was a fine young man and he will be sadly missed.

That's so terribly sad. I never met Jeremy but my heart goes out to his family and those who knew him.

I met Jeremy 2.5 years ago when I started my fish hobby. He was always helpful, always armed with a smile, a mischievous gleam in his eyes and always always more than ready to help you with whatever you were looking for.
I didn't know until just now about 4 hours ago when I read about it in the newspapers. The fishing community has lost a great person and he will be sadly missed.
My condolences to his family and friends.

Jeremy's brother, Aaron, has lost both his Brother and everything he owns in the fire. You can donate to Aaron through any branch of Coast Capital Savings.
JRFM will be on location at Fishworld on Saturday, 7 - 9AM, to fundraise. From 9 - 6PM, Fishworld owners will be accepting donations of furniture, clothing, etc in the office space next to the store.
Fishworld: 6350 - 120th Street
The Chalmers Elementary PAC is considering a trust fund to assist the family of 12 year old Cassandra Johnson, who was also sadly lost in the fire. Her older Sister, Carmen, remains in hospital with serious burns.
I understand that it is difficult this time of year to come up with anything extra to share. If you can give any amount, household item or clothing, please do so. Both of these young people have enough to deal with having each lost a sibling in the fire.
I considered setting up a Paypal account, but it wouldn't be able to accept credit card donations without a business account, which requires a bank account or credit card to be associated with it.
Therefore, if anyone is unable to donate through the bank or Fishworld due to location, etc., I will accept donations through my Paypal business account and split them all between Carmen and Aaron. A small percentage is charged by Paypal for each transaction, but otherwise the full donation will of course, be given to Carmen and Aaron. Once the donations are all received, I will print my Paypal statement and send it to Fishworld so there is a third party involved.
My Paypal account e-mail address is canadiansinternet 'at' canadiansinternet.com. Please add your name to the notes section so I can pass that along as well. Thank you.

My condolences as well...Jeremy had helped Bill and I nearly every time we've been to Nick's (fishworld), we would seek him out, and he was always a pleasure. He made it easy for me to part w/my puffer fish that I would have loved to keep if it din't eat all my other fish, but knowing Jeremy was going to personally take my meanie made it easy to part with. We, and many others, will miss Jeremy a great deal.
