I was looking for a way to have plastic plants in a barebottom tank with out floating them. I was originally going to silicone the plastic plants to a plant saucer and then cut a hole and make it a cave. But before I got to the store to buy the saucers I tried this with some clay pots I had and actually don't mind the look of it. I may eventually cut holes in the bottoms for caves.
The blue plant is hideous but I keep it just because it is great for fry to hang out in.

Looks good Pam, I agree with you on the blue plant.
I've got a couple of horrible looking ones myself, but they do the job !

I am surprised it does not glow in the dark. What we do for our fish.

That looks great! did you silicone them in or poke the bottom through the drain hole? I like it 'growing' out of the pot. You could turn it upside down and put the plant through the hole with the bottom anchoring it below the drainage hole, and then cut a little door in the pot for a cave too, I suppose.
Its a great way to get them all into a big bunch too - good thinkin'!

I took the big plant and removed the flat bottom that holds the gravel off. Then took the disk that has a hold of all the stems and jammed it into the pot. If they come out I will silicone them in, but so far only one has come out.
This would even work in a gravel tank if the plastic plants are always coming loose from the gravel or sand.

I was wondering what to do in this regrds for my current Isolation Tank. I have purchased a few plants but don't quite like they way they look in the tank... now all I have to do is go out and grab some gravel and some shalowish terra cotta pots. Good idea on the cave idea there too!

Great idea Pam. I'm sure it'll work like a charm as a fry saver. Lots and lots of places to hide.
