Wow! You did go all out, didn't you? It's always fun to get new additions. However, you do realize that there are still 11 more shopping days until Christmas... that's 11 more days to be tempted to get yourself more presents.
Don't forget to post pics when you get your corys. We'd love to see them.

Yes, pics please, I love cories but don't have enough space to keep all the varieties I would love to raise!

pics may have to wait.. the dog ate the chord for the digital cam.. so all the pics are not trapped on there until i get a new chord. i may be able to use my crappy cam to take some pics just as a reference when they get here though

Is that like the 'my dog ate my homework' excuse? Just teasing. Regardless, I hope a new cord was on your list to Santa as we'll be looking forward to your pics.

I would own every Cory species if I could. To limit that, I will collect Cory's with color one of these days, which are tough to find other than Sterbai. I also LOVE the longfin versions, which I'm looking for if anyone wants to sell them to Santa for me.
Me me me...lol....congrat's on the purchase. We have to be good to ourselves!
As for the chord, they're something like $4 at Future Shop. :D

Slight threadjack, but still cory related. I've never seen so many different strains of cory before under one roof, and none included the good ol' standy bronze corys. I know Melody hates BA's but I was impressed with their selection. Picked up some coyrdoras habrosus (pygmy) only because the 2 that I have left were getting lonely.

BA's has selection, I agree. I've also never had a problem with their frontline staff - very friendly and helpful. The health of their stock each and every time I've gone there, along with losing just about every fish I've bought there within six weeks, is where my opinion comes from. I have tried several times to suggest improvements and loudly complained about the condition of the stock but nothing changes. They consider public comments as 'bashing' rather than addressing the issues.
I introduced one bug from there that took a full equipment/tank bleaching to kill and that clinched it - I will never buy another fish there. Shame really, the store has great potential. This is, of course, the BC stores - I've never purchased from the BA's in other Provinces.
However, if you quarantine them for a very long time I don't blame people for snatching up the rarities and I wish you all the best with them.:)

Very nice pic and a healthy looking Cory.
Now get your butt to Future Shop - I can't wait to see them  . When are they supposed to arrive? Do they have far to travel?

I just landed my fish... had 3 casualties.. but this is what remains...
6 - c. duplicareus
7 - c. loxozonus
8 - c. guapore
4 - c. haraldschultzi
and all i can say is damn those loxos look good as the males in this species have elongated dorsil fins... I will try my best to get pics of them after they settle in for a while

Sorry to hear about the casualties. Which ones are you sending me for Christmas?

Nice! another cory buff.
BA has cory robinae in. I haven't seen those at a LFS in 10+ years. From what I can tell, theres not a lot of female in the tank at Burnaby store. don't think I have ever seen such a hyper corydoras in my fishkeeping days.
They have some weird looking adolfoi. I just can't figure out why their gills are black and not white like normal adolfoi. They also have a few other wild caught cories as well.
Melody

Are they False Adolfi? Corydoras duplicareus? A Google image search (http://images.google.ca/images?hl=en&q=Corydoras%20duplicareus%20&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi) will bring up pic's of them. I like them :-).
There are some big Cory suppliers in the States, maybe we should do a group order sometime. A lot of the smaller stores will order fish in as well. When it comes to Cory's, they know they can move them so I can't see them objecting.
What I want is some more Long-finned/Hifin Cory's. The well-bred ones are beautiful creatures.

the adolfoi with the black gills are actually C121 and a totally seperate species

I had to look them up - very cool looking. Gotta love mislabelling, although that one could be easily confused. Madattiver, you certainly know your Cory's. Good eye Mr. Edgezilla!

ha.. when you pretty much look at corys every day.. books.. internet.. home.. it becomes an addiction... ohh.. and having about 30 or so species of corys helps too ;)
I have gossei.. but have not yet got my hands on aeneus black
Melody

Well there are worse things to become that addicted to....lol. That's a good arguement for spouses actually "Of all the things I could be spending time and money on, fish-keeping is a harmless choice." Keeping fish is better than drinking like one, for example  .

Hmmm... I may have to reconsider moving in with Mr. Blainep and head for SK instead....
Seriously though, impressive list to be sure. How many copies of Ian's book do you have?
I think we'll need some breeder profiles around here soon - someone remind me to nag Mr. CACAdmin about that.;)
madattiver
Dec 19th 2006, 10:29 AM
I just have Ian's spawning book.. not yet got my hands on his ID book
Melody
Dec 19th 2006, 10:33 AM
ID books are shopping catalogues - I found that out with Livebearers. All it did was make my wish list a hundred times longer...lol. But speaking of lists, his ID book would make a great Christmas gift :Letter4Santa: .

Very nice list. Sp. baianinho II and similis are ones I am looking for as well. I have always wanted a tank of planted corydoras tank.
I collect plants like you collect corydoras. :D
I have spawned sterbai, fowleri, and adolfoi. I lost the later 2 during a renovation including the fry. I find mixing water from spawning tank helps quite a bit.
For IDing cories, I find aqualog to be sufficient.
