I am new to Aquariums and have a cichlid tank, 75 Gal, 36 1-2 inch cichlids, 3 small catfish, and algae eater. Been in the tank now for about 30 days. All is going good, fish are healthy looking, eat like demons (feed them 3-4 times a day, small portions).
I have been reading and surfing all over the net about Cichlids, and there are references to feeding veg, garlic, spinach, lettuce, carrots, peas, zucchini, saying to put in fresh or small portions after freezing.
Question - has or does anyone know if it would be safe to "Juice" these veggies, and soak pellets and feed the little critters. I have some Hikari Cichlid Gold baby pellets (floating), was considering this. Being new to the scene I didn't want to harm them and thought that someone might already have done something like this.
Has anyone tried this.
Thanks

:Welcome: It wouldn't harm them - I do garlic soaks frequently. Eating the vegies themselves would be better though. What kind of Cichlids are they? The dietary requirements vary widely amongst species, with some needing vegies and some not.

The list is 5 HAP VENUSTUS, 5 PSEU KENYI, 5 YELLOW LAB, 3 HAP BORLEI, 5 AULO NYASSE, 5 REDX RED, 8 O.B. PEACOCKS, and 3 Pseudotropheus saulosi (I think)
And to round it off there are 3 catfish, 1 algae eater.

Thanks, I think I will try soaking the pellets then, with the juice of veggies and see if
they like it.

Thanks Melody

Don't do it too often or you'll pollute the tank:wideeyed: . That's a lot of Cichlids for a 75G so the load is already heavy. You may also have aggression issues eventually but I'll let those who are into Cichlids gently guide you there.

Thanks,

I'm thinking about a larger tank already

Should have gone bigger, but this was my first tank and I thought it best not to go too big.

I will only try the pellet and veggie juice every couple of weeks for a change.
