Mollie babies were born on the Friday of Labor Day Weekend. Dad was an orange sailfin and Mom was a creamsicle. I actually thought I had a batch of strictly female babies. They are almost 1 1/2" long now. I moved 4 of them to my larger tank a couple of weeks ago and lo and behold I now have 2 females and 2 males. I never would have thought it would take that long for the males to develop.

That's a long time alright! Mollies often have late developing males and one study showed that they have a longer lifespan if they reach sexual maturity later, so that's a good thing.

I wonder how many more surprises I will get. I just checked out the ones I gave my daughter and there are 2 more there. I will now have to check out my granddaughter's tank when I go there. They have only been moved to other tanks in the last 2 - 3 weeks and all looked like females at that point. Amazing!
