I went to a sales/seminar thing a little while back by OASE, a manufacturer of pond gear. One thing they have just come out with is a kit that contains everything you need to build a pond you can swim in, which they call a multipond or a swimpond.

They went over how it is built and what the specs are etc, so if anyone has any questions just ask!

Here is the manufacturer site with a slide show of a swimpond being built.

Some pdfs with more info:

Here's an online retailer, gives you an idea of price: :err:

There are companies out there building them custom too. Here are some made without a kit (http://www.swimpond.com (http://www.swimpond.com/))

Cool idea. I love that first one! Wouldn't that be the perfect back yard?

The only thing I would worry about with such is people getting into the pond without completely rinsing off all perfumes, oils and other such stuff we put on ourselves that could be harmful to the fish in the pond.

The do look great however

I always thought that swimming with the fishes was a bad thing, but it's nice to see such a positive twist on it!

I love the first one! As a kid we swam in my uncle's pond with the frogs and fish that lived there.

I swam in a lake at a cabin when I was younger. We washed our hair in it, believe it or not - nobody knew any better. The only caution was you shouldn't use too much shampoo because it helped the algae grow.

Once i win the lottery, i'd have to go with the 1st one.
(-Would save me the trouble of cutting the deck apart.)

I thought we agreed to not cut the deck apart? :nah:

Of the pic's posted, I like number one too but its still too perfect. I like a more natural look and trees don't grow in perfectly aligned cone shapes.

I hope I haven't shocked any city people there  .

OK, you can plan it out, as long as you bring-

1-work gloves-

2- an extra shovel- &

3- some of those fantastic LF fish you've been creating. ::D:

You'd want to be cautious adding fish to a swimpond I think. Koi especially are messy. One of the places in the slideshow had a separate pond for the fish. They only got into the swimpond "by accident"

You'll supply the ladder I presume? :Neener:

So let me get this straight - I have to work and give you fish for the honour of working and giving you fish?

Maybe if there's beer involved... and no I am NOT bringing it! :nah:
