I have two plecos which when purchased were labeled 'common plecos'. Can anyone help me ID them?
Thanks!
This one is about 5 inches in length (including the tail).

Should be outlawed, in my opinion. Very few tanks in the average hobbyist circle can handle a fish that can get up to 18" long and creates enough mess to have his inches counted at least three times over. I think they average 12-15" in most aquariums, but that's probably because the tank is too small for them. They're another one that is released into the wild far too often.
There's some info here:

Thanks! And be assured when they outgrow my tank, I will I find an suitable adoptive home for them to grow to their full potential. (or maybe I can win the lottery & just buid a big enough tank!...lol)

I'd move them now - they're tough to get rid of at full size, even free. They should come with a warning if nothing else. I don't know why they sell them everywhere when they're not suitable for most set-ups. They're cheap, so I suppose that's it, but so are common BN's as a rule, or not much more anyway.:Dunno:
