Another happy Bottom Bites customer!

KIDDING!

If anyone is ever wondering why we say Goldfish get big, here's a fish story to prove it! He's not in a pond but I like putting the Goldfish stuff here anway - it brings attention to the fact that they're not for the average tank.

Goldie the giant goldfish has grown to such a mammoth size his owner believes he is really some fin special.

He was bought for the grand sum of 99 pence from a pet shop 15 years ago and now weighs more than 2lb thanks to a fastidious regime by his elderly owner in Folkestone in Kent. ~ ITV

Wow, now that a big goldfish. Definitely not for the average tank. I'm also glad that they mentioned the lifespan. People also don't realize the time frame commitment they are making to the care of a goldfish.

Gives you an idea on how long a fish can live with proper care. Just like any pet, they do require lots of care.

As the story pointed out, life span for a goldie is over 10 years, wonder how many people who purchase them at the LFS know that, and are willing to dedicate the time and money to keep them healthy for that long.

Thanks for posting this Mel, I am really hoping I can keep my goldies for more then 10 years as they are my scaley little children. I have a friend who has a 11 year old telescope she won at a County Fair!

LOL I assume it's to keep the tank from cooling down too much at night?

The fish's keeper is a heater hater of some kind I guess.
