I took a few shots out on a walk today and was wondering how many pictures in a post (at max size) should have a 56k warning?
Thanks.

The warning is at the poster's discretion, we don't have any applicable rules. I'd say.... 4 or 5+? But that's opinion, nothing you'll get whipped for.

56k- is a "dial-up" or modified internet connection thing, that may cause serious lag or even time-outs when viewing.
"dial-up" in my day meant a "rotary phone".
p.s.- I just found out today that even with our technology, (cellular) wireless modems are slower than "dial-up" for uploads. (grrr)
Well, now i'm getting conflicting reports. I've played around with different settings and even had a couple of people "in the know"
try to help out, but i still can't upload anything from my laptop(?)
-Left a voice mail message with tech support, but haven't heard back.

I wonder about this myself when I add the warning. How many people still use dialup and is the warning even necessary any more. Might be worth a poll?
Did you get the wireless issue resolved Namor?

I think there are possilby quite a few people whose only option is still dial-up. (people living in more remote areas). It is changing though. I do know that the Queen Charlottes just got hi-speed last year.
We don't want to exclude our fellow Canadians who have no other option because of their location. However, I think you're right that it's more and more becoming a moot point. A poll of our current membership would be a great idea.

I still can't believe though only a half hour from a major centre, that a lot of people in my area have no choice to be on some kind of wireless system. Even then,
(with my set-up) only receiving 2 or 3 bars out of 5, and sometimes none or one causes some headaches.:spinny:
Even when i can get 5 bars, still having upload issues. (even something as small as an avatar.)::(:
A poll sounds like a good idea, but in my case even a couple of pics can sometimes take a few minutes to view. Not a big deal though as the pics here are always worth a bit of a wait and it gives me more time to wraslle with Brandy.
-Never did hear back from tech support, but hope to get to the bottom of this soon.

Well I made a poll, let me know if it looks funny or needs something.
I use cable but every once in a while I connect while visiting my parents in the boonies so I picked dialup too.
Hope you get some answers Namor, not being able to upload something as small as an avatar is harsh!
