Hey guys :)

I have the biggest mass of cords and plug-ins and power bars and I am worried about FIRE lately, I know it's not the best arrangement, so I'd like to fix it up.

Does anyone if I CAN, and then HOW, re-wire everything together so that my filters/heaters are on the same plug-in/surge protector/something, but keep my lights separate of course... and possibly some advice about timers too? I'd like to organize everything better, so what tips do you have?

I have two 20 gallons with several plugs each, both are on their own power bars, and I have one 10 gallon sharing a power bar with one of the 20 gallons.

Safety and convenience are both great.
Thanks!

I use these power bars made by APC: http://www.londondrugs.com/Cultures/en-US/Product+Detail/Computers.htm?CatalogNavigationBreadCrumbs=Compute rs;Computers;Computer%20Accessories;Power%20Bars%2 0and%20UPS;APC%20SurgeArrest%20Home/Office%20-%20surge%20suppressor&CS_Catalog=Computers&CS_RootCategory=Computers&CS_Category=Power%20Bars%20and%20UPS&CS_ProductID=0589937&ProductTab=3. There are a ton of plugs, three of which are always on. My heaters and filters get plugged into the normal ones so that they can be turned off using the switch when I do water changes. I plug digital timers into the always on plugs and then small 3-outlet power bars into the timers for the lights. That way the lights stay on so I can see what I am doing when cleaning. For added safety you can plug the whole thing into a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) (http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/pubs/99.html) which can be purchased at most hardware stores.
