Apparently, a fish called a placoderm was a livebearer and the "oldest known example of any creature giving birth to live young."
Amazingly, a 380 million year old fossil found in Western Australia "has been preserved with an embryo still attached by its umbilical cord".

Wow, even though it is one of the first organisms to give birth to live young, the video shows that it was really quite easy. Human females should take a few cues from this prehistoric fish and stop making childbirth sound like such an ordeal :wink:

I stubbed my toe really bad once, I swear it was almost broken, I doubt childbirth could be worse than that.

First, let us punch you in the lower abdomen... and lower... for 12 hours.
Then, pull your lower lip out as far as you can....
Now bring it up and wrap it up over your head.
When you're done that, we'll discuss childbirth.
