A twist off topic from 'Whatcha Got' ;) . If there's one thing fish breeders like to talk about, its breeding fish. We try to talk to 'outsiders' about such things, but their eyes glaze over and they stop listening by sentence two.

I don't care how off track this goes - its one of those topics that can have 14 conversations going within it and still be on topic. The best kind really  .

I just listed all of my Livebearers in the Livebearer section, so I'll just say I breed Livebearers, which can be tricky with the wild-types so don't roll your eyes and say "EVERYBODY is a Livebearer breeder, big freaking deal"

Otherwise I've bred BN Plecos accidentally and probably will again, Panda Cory's, Red Cardinal Tetras, a few different Rainbowfish, several species of aquatic snails & shrimp.... I can't remember anymore off the top of my head. Its been a LONG time since I actively tried to breed anything other than Livebearers so the memory is fading.:Embarassing:

My future breeding plans besides Livebearers is to breed more Cory's. I keep saying I will and even buy breeders, but never get around to it.

So what have you bred, what are you currently breeding and what are your future breeding plans?

Guppies galore. Working on swords at the moment. One H. Furmosa so far. Snails 5 kinds.
Have bred bns by accident and planned. Trying with the long finned. Have four from the lf male, but not sure who the female was. Will have to wait and see.
Albino cories two survived to adult hood. Need to work on them. Going to be getting some more pandas to add to my three and hopefully.
Have tried Boesemani Rainbows, not been sucessfull yet. Also on the list to try are RR Minnows. Neon Dwarf Rainbows. Shrimp too.

I am not breeding anything at the moment, at least not intentionally.

My coryodras sterbai still spawn regularly in the planted tank, but the eggs don't last long.

I have bred

BN pleco
Corydoras folweri
Corydoras adolfoi
Corydoras sterbai

I might start breeding BN pleco

working with
Corydoras robinae

I'm breeding platys (OK,OK... everybody breeds platys:rolleyes: )... but I love livebearers and figured I'd start out with something easy... now the triick is breeding for the traits I want. Now I'm getting into breeding mollies (no fry yet but I do have a pregnant Green Sailfin Lytrail... so wish me luck!)

I also breed P. Bridgesii and Marisa snails. Oops, almost forgot the H. Furmosa!

What am I not breeding  .
I'm breeding all of my livebearers, my snails are breeding, without my help.
This spring I had a very large hatch of Zebra Danios by accident.
My actual breeding project is my shrimp and dwarf Crayfish. I'm hoping to bring lots of these little critters to the locals.
This spring I am planning to bring in some different color variations of Crayfish, hoping I can get them to procreate.

I tend to be of the thought that if your fish are breeding, or trying to, you're probably doing something right.

Currently breeding L. Tridens (livebearer) and mollys (if they will co operate). I have bred angels in the past, as well as unintentionally breeding boesmani rainbows, and pest snails I breed those really well!

Strange but true story. Last year around this time I was actively trying to breed my angels. Mommy and daddy angel laid about 750 or so eggs one time. They would have parent raised if I let them, but I decided to scoop up some wigglers right before they became free swimming. I put them in a 20G tank to grow out in for a bit. I got a bunch of plants from my 55G and plopped them in the grow out tank. I was staring at my babies one day when I saw a pair of eyes swimming past the front of the tank. I panicked. I thought some alien creature had gotten into my fry tank. I looked a little closer and realized it was a baby fish! But not an angel, it was wayyyyyyyy too small and the body shape was all wrong. You could barely see the fish it was so small, and the body was transparent. I could not for the life of me figure out how a baby fish got into my grow out tank or what kind of fish it could be. Then it dawned on me. I threw the plants in from the 55G tank. The rainbows spawn all the time and I guess the plant I chucked in the tank had an egg or two on it. The only reason it didn't get eaten was because it was in a tank with fry only slightly smaller than it.

Unfortunately the fish jumped before I could grow it out. I found its dried out body on one of the glass panels I used on the grow out tank for a lid. I had it for a couple of weeks before it jumped. At least now I know that if I put spawning mops in my 55G I could probably get the boesmani to spawn again.

Mollies right now, and I did have one spawn of Platys where 3 seem to be surviving.
In future, I'd like to try Bettas, too, and Killies.

I've always sorta bred Kribs they were always laying eggs and rearing young. My tank (pre sick) had about 15 Kribs I was left with only 2 females after they got sick and so I bought them new beaus! They have been parading around and being flirty but no eggs yet.

I would love to breed Baloon Mollies, I just love Baloon Mollies love the colour variations. I once had a calico Mollie just a beauty but I have only ever managed to raise 1 fry to adult hood. Course might have something to do with not having a spare tank to put the fry.

Sssshhhh don't tell hubby but I bought a 2.5 gallon to house a betta. But currently have 2 Baloon Mollies quarantined in there. One presented with ICH. But they are looking better already.
