Hey, one of my tanks has green water, and nothing I have done to it has made it better.. Ive even done daily waterchanges for two weeks, and it just keeps coming back.. i recently added a Skimmer, but im not sure if its working as good as it should.. and the water is still green.. All my levels are fine, and my ph is sitting around 8.2..... I cant remember if thats good or not.. lol.. And nothing is dying or getting sick or anything, my Anenome is loving it, hes growing like crazy, same as my anthelia.
So Im stumped at what the cause is.

Any ideas?
Thanx

Lighting can be the cause. I love green water tanks I wish I could have them again.

Are you serious that you like them?
And how could my lighting be the cause.. I mean how can the lights cause the green?

Green water usually has afew causes and just like you I have been fighting it for a while.
Ok Ok!!! One on my tanks in florescent green.
From what I have red, Green water is usally caused by high phosphates and too much light.
If the occupants of your tank can survive it, most people recommend a black out for 4 days or reduce lighting peroids down to a total 4 hours despersed speratically through the day.
If it is a new tank, I'm sure you know that it can be part of the normal period of establishing the tank.
But now I feel like I'm just gabbing and I'm not sure I'm even listening to myself.

There's always Flourish Exel, it has been said that it has some anti-algae properties but I don't know what it'll do to a SW tank.

Yah, ive been fighting it for a month and a half at least.. Im going to throw a UV sterilizer on there in the next couple weeks, and see if that will help.. I lowered the lighting time to 6 hours a day, but ill shorten it a bit longer.. Not much more or my anenome wont like it too much..

One of the most frequent problems with our ponds is green water. Green water causing algae are always present, but will not bloom if the aquarium is well balanced, meaning that all things exist in an equilibrium. External or internal impacts will result in an imbalance. It is nothing more then single celled planktonic organisms that thrive on high dissolved organic matter and nutrients, often indicated by elevated nitrate levels.
