I LOVE the idea of an aquarium terrace for plants! This is the first time I've seen it in a how-to. I'm sure it's not a new thing but I don't see it talked about either. Maybe it's more common in the plant circles. Much nicer than pots, in my opinion.
The terrace in this DIY post (http://www.fishkeeping.co.uk/articles_10/aquatic-terrace-within-your-aquarium.htm) is a permanent fixture, siliconed in. Has anyone tried this, either as a permanent fixture or something a little less permanent? I'd like to add something like that to existing tanks.

Thanks. I have been looking into how to do that with my tanks but with grey slate to make the terraces with. Will take a bit of time to glue all the slate together but am taking it as a long term project for over the summer.

Now that's funny, because I was just thinking that I might have found a use for that slate I have sitting around... You go first! I guess one could shape it to go into a corner with a back on it so the gravel doesn't spill, if you don't want it permanent.

That's a cool idea... looks great. Looking forward of pics of what you two and others do with the idea.

Well you know me, I'll have to talk about it for a year and a half before I do it.

Thats just extensive research and development, you are just being prudent and allowing time to learn from the input of others  I procras...uhh...research extensively myself.
I have a bunch of nice thin rock I collected a couple of years ago with no particular use in mind, this is a good idea

Exactly! Finally, someone who understands me. I think it's a sign of intelligence, Mr. SB. I say that of all my quirky ways though  .
