I think i've finally decided on a spot for a pond.
The last couple of months have left anyone walking, biking or driving past my fence
with an earfull of barks and a spazztic dog chasing them down.

I'm going to try and solve this problem a couple of ways.
#1- This is the only area that gets shade.-

Gonna fence off this part from the gate to the house.-

My only concern this this spot would be damaging any roots from the trees.

#2- This area will also be fenced off for a long awaited garden.-

Methinks i'll have to get the rest roto-tilled.

Here's a few pics of the goldies i kept.-

This one is my fave, and almost got left behind when moving them out of the pond last year.:wideeyed:

You'll be relieved to know that I approve of this plan, as long as the deck remains. Now you can sleep better tonight.

The Goldies are very pretty - how many is there all together with the ones you took out to your parents' place?

Thanks for sharing the pic's & the plan!

 I'm glad you approve.

That deck will have to stay intact for the CAC BBQ.

I only wish the spring would have been nicer to get a better start on things.
Most likely won't have the pond ready to stock this year, and will only condition
the soil in the garden to plant next year.

As for what to plant...:Dunno: Maybe peas, lettuce, carrots, squash...
anything the fish can eat.

Not sure of the exact number, but will be housing all this winter.
Still also planning a large tank build in the basement for them and my MTS
is now so outta control, i sold a drumkit to make both the money and room for it.:err:
What was that hotline number again?

Warning! Warning! Don"t go to that website its a set up! I did and I deveoped MTS! They are an infectious group, most have it and they are active carriers! They will not attempt to cure MTS instead they encourage you to continute in your quest to Add MORE Tanks! Sigh! Now if you want to talk to someone to cure MTS talk to my husband!

Namor, looks like a good plan to me.

Sounds like a great plan. As for the tree roots, they are usually shallower closest to the trees. So, I'll toss a couple of ideas out for the pond for what they're worth.

quite shallow near the tress and deeper towards the house.
as above but have pond partially above ground (this of course would require building a stone wall around it or something which would increase the costAs for the garden, it will produce far more than the fish will eat so think of your preference too. Try to plan veggies that peak at different times so you don't have everything ready to pick and be eaten all at the same time. Radishes are one of the earliest crops (but don't feed those to the fish... a little too zesty for them, I would think :wideeyed: ). If I recall peas and lettuce are usually ready next, followed by beans. Most squash is late summer/early fall but zuchinni if I recall correctly is earlier (especially if you want to pick them small... when they are tastiest). Of course, all this you realize is based on recollections of growing veggies many, many years ago and in the more temperate lower mainland of BC climate. Oh, and don't forget tomatoes... there is nothing like a freshly picked vine-ripened tomato. Yummm!

Now as for those pretty goldies. Thank goodness your fav didn't get left behind... such a beauty.

Thanks Jay, i've never had my own garden, so that should prove interesting.

I had kinda thought of building that area up somehow,

 maybe using soil from digging up another pond...:twitcy:

I guess it would depend upon how far you'd have to truck it. Or you could use the soil dug out from the deep end of the pond.:Dunno:

I've always loved goldfish actually. My fav in your pictures is the red and white guy in the second picture. I love his/her markings.

Well, just in case, I think I'd better inspect my BLT for spines before I take a bite.:wideeyed:
