The highlights were the cash, a new audio system/woofer (I like my music LOUD...lol), external hard drive, junk food, misc. little stuff and the fun of watching my kid open all of the stuff that I frantically searched out. Then we played Light Sabers ;) .

Hubby and I got eachother "You Might Be a Redneck If..." board game
New purse/wallet
Couple of new video games and a club pogo membership
scarf and mitts
$200 gift certificate to Guildford (supposed to magically appear in card I received yesterday, but they haven't yet :nah:(mom forgot to buy them I guess)
$100 gift card to Chapters
$150 gift card to petcetera (I spent it mostly on non fishy stuff so it counts)
$50 gift card to Safeway
$25 gift card to Save-On foods
Lots of bath stuff
Hubby got a heat pack thingy that he can strap to his back. The gel packs are really neat, you click this metal circle that is inside the gel and it hardens and heats up. To reuse, just boil the gel packs in water till they are liquid again.
But best of all I got to watch my daughter's eyes light up as she opened each and every one of her gifts. Santa's present was forgotten amongst the crafty stuff I overloaded her with.
I have been playing Guess Who, Lite Brite, and "makeover" (my mom got her makeup) for hours! I am off to play Guess Who again, maybe I can convince her to play another one of the board games she got.
Have a happy holiday season everyone!

Gift certificates rock, especially if most of the family is spread out like mine is. Shipping is so expensive now that it takes a big chunk out of what you would normally spend on a person. They're the perfect answer and everyone likes them it seems.:D

Spent Christmas eve and Christmas Day with the family and extended family and some nice memories. We've agreed many years ago to save the gift giving the kids but still got some gift certs and cash.

this year me and friend decided to donate money instead of buying gifts for eachother, but I still got a couple of gifts, mostly home made dvd's or cd's and home made xmas ornaments :) It was nice!

Ya know, I was complaining about the holiday being too commercial with people stressed out and going into debt to pull off the holiday, etc. It is so nice to hear that people are getting back to the basics. In fact, I'm more in the Christmas spirit now than I was on Christmas day. Thanks for sharing your holiday everyone, I'll look forward to reading more.

Forgot to add, I've been buying dvd's of older TV series off ebay and got them in time for Christmas.
I've been watching "The Wonder Years" with the family and my kids just love the show, so I've been looking for other TV series that I enjoyed as a kid but are not in syndication. I bought Doogie Howser, MD and they're liking that. I have a couple of seasons of Little House on the Prairie, just watched a couple of shows the last few days, I think the dear spouse is enjoying it more than they are...she can't stop crying!!
To get in touch with my philosophical side, as much as I don't like David Carradine, I purchased and enjoying Kung Fu again which I'm sharing with my 11 year old.

I think that's an awesome idea. I have all of the Star Trek seasons I think...lol....not exactly wholesome. I'd love to collect the Little House on the Prairie series too. I wondered if that was a bit beyond the kid in this modern world, but maybe the difference alone would intrigue him. Watching that show makes me miss the ethics, morals and attitudes of way back when, even if the show was ever so slightly before my time too;) . It would be neat for him to see how it was without electricity and all that.
He did ask me if we had TV's when I was young....lol...."Yeah but we had to bring it home on the family dinosaur."

Well you said you wouldn't do Christmas gifts, not New Year gifts ;) . Between the two of us with our new speakers, we'll be rocking the neighbourhood.
Glad you're feeling better!
