Do you mean pepper corydoras catfish? If so then corys are great community fish in a tropical tank. Very active bottom dwellers that are great at cleaning up uneaten food. They love sinking shrimp pellets.

Their uses are much like the rest of your fish. If you enjoy watchng them, they are good fish to have. If you don't enjoy them, get fish that you will enjoy. They spend most of their time near the bottom of the tank so if the tank needs movement near the bottom they can help with that. They eat the same type of food as most community tank fish so it is easy to feed them. You just feed enough that some of it gets to the bottom for them to eat.
