What a beautiful bird! (and that's coming from a guy who prefers fish or fur bearing critters...lol)
Do you know how he ended up living in a rescue? I can't imagine someone not claiming him... obviously, though, he's smart... he's picked a new owner who cares. How's he adapting to his new home?

I don't have too much background info other than his original owners neglected him and likely just got bored once the honeymoon was over lol.
He's settling in well so far, was a bit needy all day yesterday and didn't like being left alone in a room, but today he's doing much better and has been hanging out on top of his cage and on my shoulder lots. He even had a shower earlier so I think he knows this is home now. I have to be a bit careful not to rub my eyes after touching him though as I have a slight allergy to bird dander and he has LOTS of it. The cats are afraid of him and the dog keeps going up to his cage with different toys to see if he'd like to play. I was keeping him in my computer room but he seems much happier out in the living room watching t.v and having staring contests with the Iguana lol.
I was a tad worried about hubby's reaction to a new noise maker after his horrible experience with the Macaw I bird sat last year but he seems to like him thankfully, it helps greatly that he's actually fairly quiet most of the time and he's not out to kill the hubby like the Macaw was at every opportunity .
The woman who had him for the past while said that he hadn't taken to anyone so quickly before so I figure it was probably meant to be, she suggested that he would be happy living with me and at first I never gave it much thought, but she had brought him to visit several times and he was instantly comfy here so I started to actually think about it, only took me a month and a half to decide whether our lifestyle was appropriate for another pet and after mulling it over I came to the conclusion that we could make it work if we wanted it to work so here he is hehe. :D
I've got just about all the indoor animal groups covered now...Only things left now are farm critters hehe.

There are laws about farm critters....lol.
Nice birdy indeed. I would probably have a bird (actually I'm forever having a bird about something, but you get the drift...lol), but I don't like to cage them and I don't like bird poo all over my house. Therefore it would not work. We must realize these things before adopting pets.
Its like dogs - I like big dogs, not lap dogs. I would have to excercise a big dog A LOT for it to be remotely happy in a city. I also come from the country where you let a dog out, it does business, it comes back - a scooper I would not be. BUT you can't leave your dog crap all over the neighbourhood (and I hate the irresponsible dog owners who do) so it just wouldn't work out all around.
They're a lot of work, these creatures of ours, but they bring a lot of joy with them!

Ya I know what you mean about the caging thing, I'm not big on it either, that's why his door is open all day so he can come and go as he pleases lol. His wings are clipped for his safety though so he really only has access to his whole cage and the love seat which is now covered to collect poop :D, which is the least of my worries...ever seen the size of the crap a Macaw takes? Cockatiel poo is nothing in comparison LOL.
He likes sitting on my shoulder so we fart around the house together. I had a cockatiel when I was a kid who used to sleep with me and only ever went to her cage to eat or when we were out for longer periods of time so she was kept safe, other than that she was literally free as a bird LOL. We didn't have cats back then though so his venturing will be kept to a minimum so he doesn't end up getting hurt as I am sure the cats won't be afraid of him forever.
I've always had a dog, can't really imagine life without one, it can be hard to exercise them properly in the city though, I take Bailey to Tynehead park all the time so she gets a few hours of run time. Otherwise we usually go to the little parks by the house. I don't really walk her too much per say, she's too high energy for that and leash walking bores her so I take her places she can actually run and have fun.
If I ever ended up on a farm, I'd have more critters than I'd know what to do with so having the mini zoo that I have now is probably safer LOL.

Yup, I'd be a lazy dog owner so I shouldn't be one at all. I wish more people would figure that out....lol.

I love dogs too (especially big dogs) but don't like amount of work involved (nor do I have a place for one) so I simply enjoy everybody else's dogs.

Nice bird, glad he/she has found a nice home.
We do have a big dog (golden retriever/ lab), but have a good size yard for her. She loves to chase squirrels, so usually gets her excercise with them. Do still walk her, but not as much as I should. She guards the bird feeders for me in the winter, and keeps the squirrels from eating everything.
