View Full Version : How did you ring in 2007?

I rang in 2007 with my fave handsome young man of 12, drinking Gingerale out of wine glasses, watching the New York celebration. He played Auld Lang Syne on his new Piano for me (I got him a proper Casio full-size piano for Christmas). Then we ate Tim Horton Doughnuts....lol.
I rarely have gone out on New Year's Eve over the years. I did as a young lady because I usually got asked to go somewhere, but otherwise I have been content to spend it at home or at small gatherings at the neighbours', etc.
I hope everyone rang it in safely and happily no matter what you did.

Sounds pretty good to me Melody! At least you had that handsome young man of yours to celebrate with! ;)
No one here but me, but I had some excellent 21 year old Scotch (a Christmas present from my daughter & her family) to toast the New Year with. I sipped that whilst I put up the New Year Message on the site... and watched the fireworks from my window. (A few people in the surrounding neighborhood always set off fireworks on New Years.) That was followed by a quick phone call from my daughter.
Best of the New Year to everyone... hope 2007 brings you good health, lots of happiness & if you're lucky even a little wealth!:D

i had a fire out back by myself and took things quite and relaxed all night...
bbq'd up 3 deer steaks and baked potatoes, garlic, and onions on the fire with a beer or two, i ate like a king, had a kickin fire, went to bed feeling rested and woke up this morning with NO hangover, money in my pocket and feeling pretty dang good on the first day of the year...
which is kind of a change in pace to most years i've spent.. hahah
so make 2007 a great year for yourselves everyone!!!!
cheers

I went to a small gathering of friends out in Langley. As I am not a drinker I was sober, as was hubby, but a good time was had anyway.
At the stroke of midnight our friend honked his train horn so the neighbourhood sounded like a train was sidetracked and was about to plow through the streets. I was home safe in my bed by one. I too did not wake up with a hangover and 2007 is looking like it is going to be a great year.
I hope everyone celebrated safely and has a wonderful new year!

I learned many moons ago that I don't need booze to celebrate something, but I don't get hangovers so I didn't learn the hard way....lol...priorities change I suppose. I've never really been one for formal gatherings - I don't even like fancy restaurants. Cheap date.;) My idea of fancy is KFC & Whitespot <Insert "You might be a redneck">.
Glad to hear that everyone is safe & happy so far!

We rarely go anywhere on New Years, this year was no exception. Stayed home and watched Niagara Falls celebration with Foreigner. Dozed off before midnight.

I would have watched that one if I'd known it was on...lol...I rarely watch TV so I miss the good stuff. I know about the New York thing from years ago and that's about it.

It's one of the kid's favourite nights of the year...they get to stay up past midnight and we spend the evening playing all sorts of board games. To add to the ambience, we play Rummolli (sp?) while dining on smoked oysters and sardines.

I didn't think anybody ate sardines much anymore. I used to eat sardine sandwiches as a kid. :Eeewww:

I haven't had a sardine sandwich either since I was a kid. I think they've lost their appeal.

lol...I take my sardines au natural w/o bread, crackers etc. I lead mainly a low carb lifestyle. I don't like the Brunswick sardines, too big and too much fishiness for my liking. I like the brisling sardines from Norway, smoked, Cloverleaf isn't bad, King Oscar if I want to splurge. The kids like 'em too, not in sandwiches or toast, just straight out of the can.

We must have been oblivious to what we were eating then, because I used to eat Mustard Sardines when my Father did too and I certainly don't now....lol. Its one of the few things I remember about him. He liked Dulse too. He drowned when I was 8 so there's very little I remember, but stuff like that stuck - wierd.
