Pygmy cories should feel right at home with small fish like those neons. Which type of pygmy were you looking at, the habrosus, hastatus or pygmaeus? My own favorite, because they are not as shy, is the habrosus but I have all 3 and they are all good with small fish.

New projects are always lots of fun. The tank looks great. What type of substate is that?

Bottom layer is 1 bag of Shultz's Aquatic Soil mixed with 1/2 bag of Flourite. On top is Estes' Ultra Reef Marine Sand.

I already have the Cory's in a 10 and waiting for their new home. They are the pygmaeus.

I love the look of the Estes' Ultra Reef Marine Sand. The cories will just love it I'm sure. How fine a sand is it? Namely, does it get stirred up easily?

I'm not sure of the exact size particle but it is very fine. In fact, if you don't soak it before you use it, some of the particles will float. No rinsing needed, just soaking. Stirring up the sand a bit before starting the siphon let's me gravel vac with no real problems.

The background of the tank is spray paint. For this tank I used Excel - Speckle Stone paint.

A three week update on this project.

1) all the Microrasbora kubotai died instantly with the addition of Aquarisol for and ich outbreak, :frown:

2) the pygmy cory's and otto cats had not problem and are now enjoying their new home. ::D:

3) the new addition of the cave looks kinda goofy for now...hoping the Java moss will cover up the yucky glue marks. :err:

Now it's wait and see to make sure all the ich is gone before finding a new small school.

Sorry to hear you lost all the Microrasbora kubotai. :frown: Best of luck with the next colony.

The tank looks good. As for the cave, java moss should cover it nicely.

A sad loss but the tank is looking good. Any idea of what you'll put in there?

Still not sure what is going in. I am making the lfs rounds today to see what I can find. Of course i'm taking along a heated bag with me, -27 and a stiff breeze.

Look forward to seeing them... of course once you get them to stay still long enough to snap a picture.

Blue Tetras are a tough fish and I really liked the looks of mine. They can be a tad nippy but they didn't seem to bother my community tank much. I'm sure you'll enjoy them.
