Just wondering if anyone was brave/foolish enough to take a dip in the local waters on New Year's Day. I'm don't know how many places in this country have a 'Polar Bear Swim' on New Year's Day but here in Vancouver, it has been an annual event for the past 87 years.

I gather somewhere around 2,000 people in Vancouver took the plunge. Now me, personally, I've never done it... nor ever will. I hate the cold :Holiday-1:... that's why I live here and not in the more frigid parts of the country.

I think that has to be the most incredibly ridiculous thing to do - I'm surprised more people don't have heart attacks from the shock.

But then again, ridiculous things to do are often the most fun....lol....won't catch me doing it I'm afraid, although being able to go to the beach in a Santa suit has its appeal.....

Dared my eldest daughter a few years ago...I would do it if she would. She chickened out then, but was willing this year. I must be getting smarter in my years because I chickened out now.

So even though you chickened out, did she go it alone?

Not me, nice hot bath is the only swimming I do in the winter.

I think they are either drunk or their brain is still pickled from the night before..... or they're Mr. HP or his spawn... or maybe aliens from an arctic planet..... or all of the above.:D

That's right folks, when you are too chicken to do it, you make fun of those who do. What sounds better? "I am too chicken to sky-dive", or "People who sky-dive are reckless idiots, which I am not."

She's still 11, give her a few years and she'll chicken out too, I hope.

Anything is possible when you're 11.... I suppose we should retain some of that in our old age. Hmmm... maybe she'll meet up with my Son someday and we'll be inlaws! There's only a year between them.

I don't like you pointing a gun at my kid Mr. HP :wideeyed:  .

Going with the second part of the sentence. We're not scared of anything just very cautious and safety oriented.
